However, I did find some kind souls who took pity on our situation. I was able to use Miss Drama’s ID card to show our eligibility for staying at Fort Fisher’s campsite and they allowed me to pay with a check, which I found in one of the bags!
If only getting new debit cards would have been just as easy. I use both USAA and Keesler for banking. USAA was a cinch while Keesler was most definitely not. I called USAA this morning, explained the situation, gave them the address to the Reservation Office here at Fort Fisher, and they said I’d have a new debit card within 2 days. Hooray!
Keesler on the other hand said it would be impossible to do over the phone. Instead I have to send a special email request stating I am at an alternative address and need to have a new debit card sent to me and that it will take 7-10 business days. Say what?! Well, they could possibly expedite it, but again I would have to send an email requesting it and if everything checks out I should get it in 3 business days, which puts us well into next week.
We were only supposed to stay at Fort Fisher a few days. Today is Thursday. If I wait for Keesler to mail the card to me here, I’ll be waiting until next Tuesday or Wednesday! Not any help at all. If I didn’t have a card with another bank, I would be up a creek without a paddle in this situation.
Thankfully, I do have an account with another bank and they are much more on top of the lost/stolen card game. Also thankful for Brian here at Fort Fisher who took our extenuating circumstances into consideration, so we could have a place to stay and while I wait for a new debit card to arrive. God is good.
Now, I just need to get little one to sleep so I can take a nap too. I do not function well on little sleep.
Oh, and I have to wait to get a new ID card because none of the locations near me can accommodate dependent IDs and I only have ¼ tank of gas left and no money to get more at the moment. Good thing we stocked up on food before leaving Fort Bragg.
