To New Friends…

One thing I have loved about our journey so far is the new people we have met.
We just spent the few days exploring DC from the FamCamp at JB Andrews. While we all enjoyed the museums and getting to see the city and learn more about America’s history and start as a country, my favorite part was the people.

There were surprisingly quite a few homeschoolers staying the same place we were, and the immediate camaraderie with like-minded people was awesome. Other homeschool moms and even a homeschool grandma came alongside us with suggestions and advice and support.

We had originally intended to skip DC due to regulations and such and my concerns about traveling into the city with four young children. But a wonderful woman shared information about what there was to see and do and the museums that were open, so we changed course and spent a few days exploring. Shout out to Amanda and a great big Thank-You! We also got advice on the best ways to travel there and back, first-hand info about the Metro and best ways to access it, and the Junior Ranger program, which my children are coming to love.

I could go on and on about what we saw and did, but the most important aspect to this stop on our journey was the people we met and the relationships we made. I hope we have many more similar encounters as we travel on our way across the USA.
