This morning his advice was way off though, two hours off in fact. I’d just poured the first pancake in the skillet when the first drops of rain sizzled right next to it. Thankfully most of our stuff had been packed up except for the tent, so all I had to do was find a place for me and the skillet to take cover.
I ended up in the trunk area of the truck with the tailgate open and a piece of painter’s plastic attached to the roof rack above me and spread out over the tailgate and me. I had an awesome pic of my rain proof cooking set up, but then my phone’s screen bit the dust making it a very expensive paper weight and useless for retrieving pictures. The rain didn’t last too long and the kids were able to eat in the annex since we hadn’t folded up the tent yet.
After the rain, we packed everything up and headed out towards Atlanta. It’s a long drive from here and we’ll probably end up stopping for the night somewhere since we got such a late start. Hoping for some good weather along the way.
